Half our December callouts trace back to three preventable things: a tired battery, summer tire pressures, and an empty washer bottle freezing the pump. An hour in the driveway now saves a frozen hour on the shoulder later.
Under the hood
- Battery older than four years? Get a free load test. Cold cuts cranking power nearly in half, and most winter no-starts were already dying in October.
- Coolant strength. A 50/50 mix protects well below local lows. Top up with the right spec, not water.
- Washer fluid rated for frost. Summer fluid freezes in the lines and burns out the pump.
Where rubber meets ice
Check pressures monthly — every 10°F drop costs about 1 PSI, and soft tires slide and overheat. If your tread is near the wear bars, budget for replacements before the first storm, not after the first skid.
Seven things for the trunk
- Blanket, gloves and a warm hat
- Phone power bank and charging cable
- Reflective triangle or flares
- Small shovel and a bag of sand or kitty litter
- Jumper cables or a booster pack (we sell the set our crews carry)
- Snacks and a bottle of water
- A printed card with our number: 1-800-555-0142
Do the driveway hour, pack the trunk, and drive the season with confidence. And if winter still wins — that's literally what we're here for, day, night and holidays.
